Olympic crush: British speed skater Elise Christie

If there was a candidate for unluckiest athlete at the PyeongChang Olympics, it might be Elise Christie. The Scottish speed skater, who represents Great Britain, arrived in South Korea looking to amend for a poor run of luck four years ago that saw her disqualified from all three of her races in Sochi. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old’s poor run of luck at the Games has continued in PyeongChang. She’s crashed out of both of her events so far and is currently in a race against time to bounce back in time for signature event, the 1,000m, which takes place on Tuesday. It’s a rotten bit of luck for a talented speed skater. That’s why we’re pulling for the 10-time European gold medalist who won back-to-back overall European titles in 2015 and 2016.
