Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee joins cast of 'Dancing with the Stars'

Sunisa Lee is going from the Olympic podium to the dance floor.

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" announced Thursday that the 2020 Olympic all-around gymnastics gold medalist will participate in its 30th season, releasing a video from Lee herself.

Joining Lee on the cast is influencer JoJo Siwa, with the rest of the group slated to be revealed Sept. 8, according to People.

Lee vaulted into fame with her Olympic victory last month, capturing gold in the all-around shortly after her teammate and heavy favorite Simone Biles withdrew from the event. The 18-year-old held off Brazil's Rebecca Andrade and Russia's Angelina Melnikova in the final to give the U.S. its fifth straight win in the event. Lee also took silver via the team event and bronze in the uneven bars.

'Dancing with the Stars' loves its gymnasts

Joining the cast of "Dancing with the Stars" is practically a tradition among notable American gymnasts.

Biles, Aly Raisman, Shawn Johnson, Mary Lou Retton, Laurie Hernandez and Nastia Liukin have all taken part in the show, with Johnson and Hernandez winning their respective seasons. Every other gymnast save for Retton made it to at least the final four.

That's not even the extent of gymnasts on dancing shows, as 2012 gold medalist Gabby Douglas also participated in Fox's "The Masked Dancer," winning its first season.

Like in the world of gymnastics, Lee will have a high standard to live up to.
