One person is in custody after allegedly kidnapping a man near East Berry Street Monday night, Fort Worth police said.

The victim called police at 7:11 p.m. to report that he was in a car with an intoxicated friend who was threatening suicide and trying to crash the vehicle, according to an online incident report.

Prior to officers arriving, the victim had to fight the driver to stop him from crashing the vehicle, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle and apprehended the suspect without incident, police said.

The suspect, identified in online jail records as 38-year old Jose Hernandez, has been charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon.
