Police seeking witnesses after Brampton man dies in fiery crash

Peel police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a deadly two-car crash in Brampton early Sunday morning.

One person has died and two others were injured after a black two-door Honda Civic and black four-door Toyota Camry crashed on Goreway Drive, between Mayfield Road and Countryside Drive, around 7:46 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene, the Honda Civic was engulfed in flames. The driver, a 20-year-old Brampton man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say next of kin have been notified.

Two men from Brampton, age 19 and 33, were in the Toyota Camry. They were both rushed to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

Police say "they remain in serious but stable condition."

Not clear what caused crash

On Sunday afternoon, Const. Harinder Sohi said the Major Collision Bureau is investigating, but "it's too early to tell what the factors are right now."

Roads in the area were closed for the investigation but have since reopened.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashboard video footage of the incident, or who may have information regarding the drivers' actions beforehand, to contact police.

Anyone with information can reach the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710 or contact Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
