Driver sent to hospital following multi-vehicle crash near Devonshire Mall

Windsor police become impromptu firefighters after responding to family dispute

One man is in hospital in serious condition after suffering from a medical condition that caused a two-vehicle crash outside Devonshire Mall on Monday evening.

Windsor police originally said the man had died from his medical condition, but later confirmed he is alive and still in hospital.

The 48-year-old was heading northbound on Howard Avenue around 5 p.m. in an orange Dodge Calibre and suffered his medical emergency, according to police. He then veered into the southbound lane, sideswiping a second vehicle and then slamming into a pole.

The 61-year-old woman in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

People in the area who saw the collision happened did CPR on the man until emergency crews arrived.

Traffic was shut down on a stretch of Howard between the LCBO and the EC Row Expressway.
