One injured in Lexington crash involving school bus, another car
A Fayette County Public Schools bus carrying students was involved in a crash Monday morning that left the driver of another car injured.
Lexington Fire Department responded to the crash about 7:30 a.m. on Friday at Alumni Drive and an exit ramp of East New Circle Road. The crash involved a bus and a car. Ambulance crews also responded.
A Lexington Fire Department spokesman said that there were four students on the school bus but none suffered injuries. The bus driver also was not injured.
The driver of the car, which suffered minor damage, was taken to St. Joseph East Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the fire department spokesman.
Fayette County Public Schools chief operating officer Myron Q. Thompson said via email, “Today at 7:25 a.m., Bus #19 heading to SCAPA (the School for the Creative and Performing Arts at Lafayette High School) with four students on board was clipped by a vehicle. There were no injuries.”
The crash briefly snarled traffic at the busy intersection and resulted in one subsequent crash.
