One man dead from shooting in Tacoma. Another man has been detained, police say

Four people have been detained following a shooting at a Lakewood convenience store on Nov. 20.

A man was shot and killed during an alleged dispute on Friday in Tacoma.

Officers were dispatched at 11 a.m. to the 1500 block of East D Street for a reported shooting. A man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Tacoma Fire personnel attempted life-saving measures, but he died from his injuries, according to the Police Department in a news release.

A man was detained and is suspected to be involved in the shooting. He is cooperating with the investigation, the release said. There is no suspect at large and no threat to the community, police said.

There was an alleged dispute prior to the shooting, but police are unsure what the nature of it, TPD spokesman detective William Muse told The News Tribune.

It is currently not known what the relationship between the two men was. The investigation is ongoing.

It is the 21st homicide in Tacoma in 2024.
