The One Show's Alex Jones in self-isolation due to possible COVID exposure
Alex Jones has been forced to take an unplanned break from The One Show.
Friday's (October 30) episode featured a segment where Alex Scott and fill-in host Gethin Jones revealed that Alex would be joining them via video to explain why she'd missed two shows in a row.
"I'm absolutely gutted that I'm not there," she told them. "What's happened is, a friend of mine, someone outside work who I saw a few days ago, has tested positive for coronavirus.
"We've done the right thing as a family and isolated. I've taken a test and thankfully it's negative… We are staying in. We are following guidelines."

This self-isolation period means that Alex will be away from The One Show studio for the foreseeable future, as she predicted: "I'll probably be back at work the week after next."
This is the second brush with COVID-19 that The One Show has faced since the pandemic swept the globe earlier in the year.
Her former co-presenter Matt Baker self-isolated in March when his family was also exposed to the virus, with the host documenting his own symptoms on subsequent episodes.
The timing of Matt's self-isolation meant that he actually had to host his last-ever episode from his home, rather than getting the huge send-off originally planned by Alex and his co-workers.

"To be honest with you, it's not essential travel for me to come in and say goodbye when I could do it from here.
"It is slightly odd, of course," he explained to viewers as he said his farewells.
The One Show continues Mondays through Fridays on BBC One at 7pm, as guest hosts fill in for Alex all next week.
