Ontario police say Amber Alert continues for 9-year-old girl

Police are searching for nine-year-old Layla Sabry, who went missing Thursday evening in Welland, Ont.

Police in Ontario say an Amber Alert that was issued Friday for a nine-year-old girl is still in effect.

Niagara Regional Police say Layla Sabry is believed to have been abducted.

They describe Sabry as white, about four feet two inches tall, with a thin build, brown hair, and brown eyes, and is also known as Layla Haist or Arya Dillon.

Police cancelled the alert early Saturday morning, even though the girl had still not been located. Police said they were operating under a court order to return the child to her father.

The Amber Alert said the girl was last seen Thursday evening in Welland, Ont., and was believed to be with her mother, Allana Haist, who is described as white, 38 years old, five-foot-one, with medium-length brown hair, and brown eyes, and also goes by the names Kate Dillon or Lana Marie.

Police say no vehicle description is available.
