Ontario reaches tentative deal with public service employees
Ontario has reached an agreement with the union representing some 35,000 public service employees.
The province announced the tentative deal on Tuesday, and said both the government and union will hold ratification votes in the coming weeks.
"I am pleased we have reached this tentative agreement with OPSEU. This agreement shows that when partners commit to work together to negotiate, the result can be both fair and reasonable to our employees and consistent with our fiscal plan," said Deb Matthews, President of the Treasury Board, in a news release.
OPSEU had been without a contract since the end of 2014 and had staged numerous protests against the provincial government since that time.
