OPP arrest suspect in homicide of 34-year-old Orillia man

OPP detectives have charged a 19-year-old Severn Township man with first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Derek Simmerson of Orillia.

Police arrested Justice Snache at about 11 a.m. Nov. 22.

Simmerson was found lying on Coldwater Road near Emily Street with serious injuries Nov. 19.

He was taken to Soldiers' Memorial Hospital at about 8:30 p.m., where he died.

Police say the man was found by a member of the public. When paramedics arrived, he was suffering from serious trauma.

The accused has been held for a bail hearing and is set to appear in Barrie court Nov. 23.
