Altercation in Kitchener park led to stabbing and amber alert: WRPS

Waterloo regional police have laid charges in an altercation at a park in the Chicopee area of Kitchener that led to a stabbing and an Amber Alert.

Police received reports of a disturbance call involving weapons in the area of River Road E. and Kinzie Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

They found two men with stab wounds. They were both taken to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police have charged two men with assault with a weapon in connection to that stabbing.

During the disturbance, police say a three-year-old and a one-year-old were abducted from the area by a woman and man known to them.

An Amber Alert was issued for their safety just after 11:30 p.m. Monday night and called off shortly after midnight when the two children were found.

Police have charged a woman with breach of an undertaking and are still looking for another man.
