Man in custody after Ontario police officer stabbed near Belleville

A man is in custody after an Ontario Provincial Police officer was stabbed early Sunday morning near Belleville, Ont.

On Sunday morning, police were warning residents in the Foxoboro area to lock their cars and houses and to shelter in place.

Police say man was arrested without further incident.

Previously, OPP said they were searching for 26-year-old Charles Parkinson.

According to a spokesperson for the OPP, a vehicle struck a police cruiser shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning, before the officer from the Quinte West detachment was stabbed.

The individual fled on foot. The officer is now in hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
