OPP investigating Jeremiah Perry's death on Algonquin Park canoe trip
The Ontario Provincial Police has launched an investigation into the death of Jeremiah Perry who died in early July while on a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) canoe trip to Algonquin Park.
The OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch is on the case, which will be overseen by Det.-Insp. Peter Donnelly.
Last week, the school board revealed that the 15-year-old did not pass a swim test. TDSB protocol requires that all students pass a swim test in order to go on such a trip.
The board also said that 15 of the 32 students who went on the multi-day trip in the provincial park near Huntsville, Ont., had failed their swimming tests. Two students also had no documentation.

Perry was swimming in Big Trout Lake on July 5 when he went beneath the water and disappeared. Police later recovered his body after a large scale search of the area.
The OPP didn't reveal any additional details on the investigation, only stating that they are looking into Perry's death.
