Orangemen's Day: What's closed on the holiday

Monday marks Orangeman's day in this province.

The provincial holiday is held as close to July 12 as possible to commemorate the 1690 Battle of the Boyne in Ireland.

In St. John's, most city offices and facilities are closed, but garbage and recycling collection is unaffected.

Recreational facilities will still be open.

Retailers will remain open, as well, and people in downtown St. John's will still have to pay the parking meter.

Orangemen's Day is not a public holiday in other parts of Canada.
