The Oscars may be Hollywood's biggest night but in 2022, Canada made a massive splash at the Academy Awards.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Kim's Convenience star Simu Liu, dressed in a dapper red suit, presented the award for Best International Feature Film with Tiffany Haddish.
Before presenting the award to Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi for Drive My Car, the pair made a few Canada-related jokes.
"We are here to present the award the award for International Feature Film, which is particularly exciting for me since I come from an international country, that for many Americans may seem exotic and different, Canada," Liu said.
"Parlez-vous francais?" Haddish asks, with Simu responding, "oui, voulez-vous coucher...avec moi?" meaning, "do you want to sleep with me?"
"I didn't even know that France was in Canada," Haddish goes on to say. "That is crazy."
"I got a thing for Canadians. I like that circle bacon they got, the men with the jackets that ride on mooses with the hats and stuff, that Molson's beer, the accent."
Canadians took to social media to respond to this particular bit at the Oscars.
We’re going to need the Mounties to ride on moose from now on.
Let’s make it happen, Canada.#Oscars

Earlier in the night, the Canadian actor was among the men that co-host Regina Hall called up on stage, alongside Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet and Bradley Cooper, for a bit where Hall needs to round up her crushes because their COVID-19 test were lost and they need a "deep" PCR test.
"It's gonna be a typical, quick COVID test," Hall says. "You'll come backstage, take your mask off, if you have one, and your clothes."
"I'm going to swab the back of your mouth with my tongue."
Aside from the comedy bits, Dune by Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve took home a lot of the early awards of the night, including Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design.
