Ostriches Cool Off in the Dust Amid Rising Temperatures at Victoria Zoo
As temperatures soared at a zoo in Werribee, Australia, a flock of ostriches dusted up on their cooling-down techniques, using their feathers and necks to produce some natural air conditioning.
This footage, shared by the Werribee Open Range Zoo on February 11, shows eight female ostriches whipping up dust in a sand pad to create a cooling cloud.
“As temperatures climb above 30 degrees (86F), Werribee Open Range Zoo’s ostrich flock is stirring things up in an effort to cool down,” the zoo said in a statement.
