Ottawa 67's eliminated from OHL playoffs

The Ottawa 67's are out of the OHL playoffs.

The Mississauga Steelheads beat Ottawa 5-1 Sunday afternoon at TD Place Arena to take the best-of-seven opening round series four games to two.

The 67's came into the series as underdogs, seeded seventh in the eastern conference against the second-ranked Steelheads.

They were hoping to push the series to a seventh and deciding game, after winning game five Friday night.

But they were missing some key figures Sunday, with captain Travis Barron and defenceman Ryan Orban out with injuries, and head coach Jeff Brown and defenceman Kyle Auger serving the second of their two-game suspension for misconduct in game four.

The 67's saw their playoff berth as a major accomplishment. They began the season as the youngest team in the OHL.
