Ottawa doctor charged with voyeurism, sexual assault
Dr. Vincent Nadon of Chelsea, Que., has been charged with sexual assault and voyeurism, after a complaint from one of his patients.
Nadon, 56, was practising family medicine at the University of Ottawa Health Services Clinic on Rideau Street, according to police.
Police received a complaint from a female victim in her mid-twenties earlier this week, alleging that she had been filmed without her consent during a medical examination.
Nadon appeared briefly in court via video link Thursday afternoon. He wore a red jacket and stood silently, answering "yes" when asked if he understood he can't contact the complainant, whose name can not be published.
Nadon has no previous criminal record.
He's been remanded in custody and is set to appear in court Friday morning.
Barred from University of Ottawa clinics
In a statement, a University of Ottawa spokesperson said Nadon will no longer be practising in university clinics.
"The health and security of our students, faculty and support staff is of the utmost importance," said Néomie Duval in a statement in French. "As soon as we were informed, the university immediately contacted the University of Ottawa Health Services (UOHS) to ensure that the physician in question was no longer practising at UOHS clinics."
The sexual assault and child abuse unit of the Ottawa police is investigating and believes there are possibly more victims.
