Ottawa weather forecast calls for continued rain, warmth

It was a nice start to the day in Ottawa-Gatineau that will eventually become the hottest of the week with rain possible later on.

Wednesday's forecast calls for sunny skies in the morning with some clouds and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon, along with the risk of a thunderstorm.

A west wind should hit 20 kilometres per hour late in the morning as the high reaches 31 C with a humidex of 35, which is actually less humid than the past few days.

There is still a very high UV index of nine.

Overnight the skies will be partly cloudy with another 30 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm, while the west wind hits 20 km/h again and the low drops to 18 C.

Thursday's forecast has a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the morning and afternoon, along with the risk of a thunderstorm. The high will reach about 28 C with a humidex of 33.

Friday will be an anomaly. The high is only set to hit 21 C with a mix of sun and cloud.

The long weekend weather forecast brings highs of 26 C, then back-to-back days of 29 C with mostly sunny skies. That will be nice for those sticking around the capital region.
