Ottawa weather forecast calls for rain, thunderstorms to ease heat

Ottawa weather forecast calls for continued rain, warmth

The humidity could reach a breaking point on the final day of August as thunderstorms are in the forecast during the day and the evening in Ottawa-Gatineau.

Wednesday's forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies with a 30 per cent chance of rain and a risk of a thunderstorm.

A northwest wind should hit 20 kilometres per hour in the afternoon as the high reaches 26 C with a humidex of 32. The UV index is 5, or moderate.

Overnight, the skies remain partly cloudy and there is again a 30 per cent chance of showers with the risk of a thunderstorm. The northwest wind also remains at 20 km/h, but lightens in the evening, as the low reaches a cool 14 C.

The cooling off will translate into a cooler string of weather in the days to come.

Thursday, the first day of September, calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a northwest wind of 20 km/h in the morning.

The high will reach 23 C with a humidex of 26 and Thursday's overnight low will dip down to 12 C.

Friday should be quite similar with sunny skies and a high of 23 C, but the overnight low heading into the Labour Day weekend could be just 10 C.

The weekend should warm up slightly, though, with sunny skies expected and highs ranging from 25 C to 28 C from Saturday to Labour Day Monday.
