Ozzy Osbourne details 'slow recovery' from spinal surgery: 'I'm about 75% there'

Ozzy Osbourne is giving an update on his health after undergoing spinal surgery.

During an interview with SiriusXM Saturday, the Black Sabbath frontman, 71, said it’s “just such a slow recovery.”

Earlier this year, Ozzy revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in a "Good Morning America" interview with his wife Sharon. Last year, he had to cancel tour dates after a bad fall left him needing neck surgery.

"I'm not back to 100%. I'm about 75% there," he said. "Spine surgery is bad news... I've been in such a bad state with pain. I'm still having a lot of pain. Nothing like it was -- there was a point I was telling to Sharon the other day, I was convinced that I was dying. I was in that much discomfort and pain and misery. I thought they were all hiding it from me."

He continued, "I remember saying to Sharon, 'You've gotta level with me. Is it worse than you're making it out (to be)?' She says, 'No.' "

Despite the challenging road to recovery, he added that he’s off his pain medication at this point.

Osbourne is already looking towards the future as well, saying he “cannot wait” to get back to performing.

He worries, however, that due to the coronavirus pandemic, indoor shows “will be a thing of the past.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Friday, the Prince of Darkness echoed his hope.

“As soon as I get back on my feet, I'll (be) out. I can't wait. Pandemic or not, I can't wait," Ozzy said.

Sharon added, "Once they allow artists to go back and perform, if I have to, I'll wheel him on."

In May, Osbourne’s son Jack shared what life was like in coronavirus quarantine at the time during an interview with the same outlet.

"He's a little depressed because he can't do anything. And he's fallen victim to watching the news all day," the 34-year-old said. "I'm like, 'Dude, turn that crap off. (Watch) a little bit in the morning, a little bit at night. Get the, you know, the broad strokes. But let's unplug the IV of news right now.' "
