P.E.I. heating oil, diesel prices increase

Heating oil prices down on P.E.I.

The cost of heating oil and diesel rose overnight on P.E.I.

This was an unscheduled change. The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission normally changes prices twice a month, on the first and the 15th.

Both fuels are up five cents a litre. Gasoline prices are unchanged.

In a news release, IRAC said refineries are switching over to more expensive winter blends of fuel, and that is the main reason for the price increase.

The new price for heating oil is $0.799 per litre. The new price for diesel is a minimum of $1.127.

IRAC said even with the price increase Islanders are paying the lowest price for furnace oil in the Maritimes.
