Packers fans drive CB Davon House from Minnesota to Green Bay for practice

Here’s your regular reminder that Green Bay Packers fans are the best in the NFL, or at least the nicest.

Cornerback Davon House, who re-signed for a second tour with the Packers this offseason after a two-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, found himself needing a ride to Green Bay for OTA practice on Tuesday after he missed his connecting flight in Minneapolis on Monday night. House put a message on Twitter, and a couple Packers fans answered (h/t to ESPN.com’s Rob Demovsky).

Chad and Mike Johnson live in western Wisconsin and what else on Monday night was more pressing than getting a Packers player to practice on time? So they picked up House and drove him to Green Bay, getting him there about 3:30 a.m. according to Demovsky.

Need more? Chad Johnson told ESPN.com he brought a pillow so House could sleep on the ride and be ready for practice. That’s going above and beyond. OTAs are voluntary, but nobody takes football more seriously than Packers fans in Wisconsin. So two of them made sure House got there.

“It tells you about his commitment – both from our fans and Davon,” McCarthy said Tuesday, according to ESPN.

The two fans were reportedly as nice and polite as you’d expect for a couple folks from America’s Dairyland (House insisted on giving the brothers $80 for gas and wanted to give more, but they refused according to Demovsky), and House repaid the favor. Instead of just dropping off House at his car, House insisted the Johnson brothers come to Lambeau Field, where they got some signed stuff from House, saw the inside of the Packers’ locker room and got some pictures with the Packers’ Super Bowl trophies.

Then, the Johnson brothers got back on the road and were back at work Tuesday. The round trip from Minneapolis to Green Bay and back is a little less than nine hours.

This is a pretty amazing story, and it would only happen with the Green Bay Packers.
