Pakistan drops Amir again, recalls Wasim for T20s v Aussies

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan left out Mohammad Amir and recalled fit-again allrounder Imad Wasim for the three-match Twenty20 series against Australia next week in the United Arab Emirates.

Amir was also dropped for the ongoing two-test series against Australia. The left-arm fast bowler hasn't taken a wicket in his last five one-day internationals.

Wasim, who also bowls left-arm spin, wasn't considered for the Asia Cup.

"Imad Wasim makes a comeback after his form and fitness was monitored by the selection committee during the current domestic matches," chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said in a statement on Thursday.

The 15-member squad, led by Sarfraz Ahmed, also includes uncapped 30-year-old left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood.

Maqsood took 14 wickets in Pakistan's domestic one-day tournament and has taken 20 wickets in 19 T20 matches with an impressive economy rate of 6.58.

Pakistan has also dropped Haris Sohail and Mohammad Nawaz, who both played in the T20 tri-series in Zimbabwe. Wasim and Babar Azam replaced them.

The T20 series begins next Wednesday.
