Parry Sound-Muskoka MP named to shadow cabinet

·1 min read

Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison is the Tory MP who will hold Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s feet to the fire on labour issues.

Just days after Trudeau named his cabinet for the 44th Parliament, now Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole has named his shadow cabinet, the group of Tory MPs who examine the existing government's actions and develops its own alternative policies. The Shadow Cabinet also challenges the existing government on issues and holds it accountable. In a news release, Aitchison says he's honoured and humbled by the faith O’Toole has placed in him by naming him to the position. Aitchsion says it's hardworking men and women who built Canada with their perseverance and character and he wants people to know the Conservative Party believes standing up for workers is a priority. Aitchison says it will be his job to promote workplaces that are safe, healthy, fair and inclusive. In the months ahead, Aitchison will be working on a comprehensive plan that ensures a healthy and safe workplace for everyone and he wants Canadians across the country to give him their ideas and suggestions on the plan. Shadow Cabinets are made up of senior opposition MPs in the House of Commons.
