Partial water shutdown ends in Iqaluit, boil water advisory in effect

Water has been restored to a group of homes and businesses in Iqaluit that have been without services since Saturday.

Repair work being done on a water main leak caused the shutdown, which affected numerous residents in the capital's downtown area.

According to the City, the excavated area where crews were working on the leak will remain open for now, allowing workers to monitor the situation.

Although water has been restored, a precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect for the area affected by the water shutdown.

The Government of Nunavut said earlier this week that any tap water in the affected area should be boiled for at least one minute before consumption.
