'Party is on!' Nova Scotia man pens his own inspiring obituary
Paul Culligan knew how to make people laugh, even in his obituary.
The Nova Scotia man penned his own unconventional obit before he died at the age of 58 this week.
"Party is on!" Culligan wrote.
In lieu of a traditional funeral, Culligan invites people for a "beer, glass of red wine or favourite beverage and enjoy a slice from Burnside Pizzeria" to remember him at the Dartmouth Curling Club on Friday afternoon.
"I assure that neither curling rocks nor the ice playing sheet was harmed in my feeble skipping career," he wrote.
Culligan's last wishes also included a request for people to share "any and all anecdotes, jokes and insults" at the celebration.
His family wrote online that Culligan loved life and all those in his life.
"He was a very special person to many family and friends from all the places that he lived during his 58 years. His marketing and sales background made him a wonderful talker and never shy to give an anecdote, lead a singalong or provide bar tricks."
Culligan's memorable obituary was shared online by people who didn't know him as well.
"If you have to go...might as well have the last laugh," Rosanne Gillis posted on Facebook.
