Patrick Starrr and Jackie Aina Star in UOMA Beauty’s Carnival Collection

Carnival season is fully upon us and UOMA Beauty knows it well. If you didn’t know, Mardi Gras has just ended in New Orleans and Trinidad and Tobago just wrapped up their carnival celebration. And what's one of the best things about carnival all around the world? Costume and beauty!

The beauty looks people pull off for carnival are not to be played with. Ladies don bright eyeshadows with barely-there embellished costumes and feather festooned accessories. At my first carnival experience with Bermuda, I learned that minimal makeup is not an option when it come to these festivities. Celebrities like Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are among the thousands that gather for celebrations like this and their makeup game is always on point. But, interestingly enough, there’s never been any special cosmetic collections geared towards carnival — until today.

Last year, UOMA Beauty came out the gate with inclusive foundation shades, literal Badass lipsticks, highly pigmented eyeshadows for darker skin tones, game-changing concealers, and more. Now, they are launching a limited-edition collection inspired by the bright colors and festive carnival costumes.

The Black Magic Carnival capsule includes lashes adorned with rhinestones, voluminous purple falsies, and exaggerated lengthy lashes that are similar to a peacock’s tail. f this collection could be described in one word, it would be drama.

Aside from the dramatization of the lashes, UOMA is introducing face and body bronzing highlighters. The creamy but wet formula glides onto the skin with little to no effort providing a luscious glow. There are two highlights made to complement skin tones and they add the perfect finishing glow touch to an everyday makeup look (or an over the top carnival outing). Not to mention, the highlighter (named Barbados to pay homage to the islands) has a coconut scent that immediately reminds you of the place it's inspired by.

UOMA also included some already beloved products in this collection: lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes. UOMA is known for its highly pigmented palettes, specially made for darker skin tones, and lipsticks. The Black Magic Carnival palette features dazzling oranges and vibrant colors like hot pink and sunshine yellow named after destinations that celebrate the history of carnival. From a glittery Trinidad green to a deep auburn color named after the Mexican town of Mazatlan. The two metallic lipsticks from the collection include are hot pink and a pinkish nude that has an iridescent finish on the lips.

Beauty influencers Jackie Aina and Patrick Starrr have been tapped to star in UOMA’s carnival campaign. The duo posed in carnival costumes including the traditional headpieces and feathered accessories. Jackie even put a carnival kit together inspired by her hometown in Nigeria, which features her favorite products from the collection.
