Peaky Blinders has finished filming its sixth and final series.

It was confirmed in January that the BBC gangland drama starring Cillian Murphy would be coming to an end after series six.

Director Anthony Byrne has now announced that filming has wrapped – and paid tribute to late cast member Helen McCrory at the same time.

Byrne marked the occasion by sharing a picture on Instagram showing him standing alongside crew members and holding a clapperboard.

“Done & Done & Done,” he wrote.

The clapperboard featured a sketch of McCrory, who died last month at the age of 52 after a battle with cancer. The actor had starred as Polly Gray in the Birmingham-set show.

The message received plenty of likes from fans, with many thanking Byrne for his work.

Others said the season would be “for Helen”.

“So well done you guys...this must have been so difficult for you all for so many reasons. But you did it,” said one follower on Instagram.

“We will miss you,” said another.

Some of the cast have recently been talking about how it will feel to retire their characters.

Murphy told Men’s Health magazine that it would be “very strange” not to play crime boss Thomas Shelby any more.
