Pedestrian, 73, in critical condition after being struck by car

A 73-year-old woman was transported to hospital Friday evening in critical condition after being struck by a car.

Police say she was hit by a small car at around 7:45 p.m., in the east end of the city, at the corner of Sherbrooke Street east and Bercy Street.

Witnesses told police the woman was crossing southbound at the intersection, when she was struck by a car travelling westbound on Sherbrooke.

The driver was a 65-year-old man.

Investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened. They have already confirmed that alcohol was not a factor.
