Pedestrian died the day after being hit by SUV while crossing Kansas City street
A pedestrian died after they were struck by an SUV while crossing the street Sunday afternoon in Kansas City.
Officers responded to the crash around 5:32 p.m. in the area of St. John and White avenues, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
A pedestrian trying to cross St. John walked in front of a gold Toyota RAV4 traveling eastbound, according to police. The Toyota struck the pedestrian, throwing them against the pavement, police said.
Police said the driver was not injured and has cooperated with the investigation. Emergency medical crews took the pedestrian to a hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Around 1:20 p.m. Monday, police were told the pedestrian had died.
The crash was the 90th road fatality in Kansas City this year, according to data from police. There were 78 fatalities at this time last year.
