Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Morro Bay

A pedestrian died in Morro Bay Thursday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle, according to Morro Bay police.

Officers found the 77-year-old woman unconscious in the street at the intersection of Beach Street and Market Avenue. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, after Morro Bay paramedics performed medical aid.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was identified as a 53-year-old man and San Luis Obispo County resident.

He remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to a Morro Bay Police Department news release.

Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor, police said.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
