Pedestrian dies after he’s hit by Sacramento Regional Transit shuttle bus in North Natomas
A man died Monday morning after he was struck by a Sacramento Regional Transit shuttle service bus in the North Natomas area.
The fatal collision involving a pedestrian occurred about 8:50 a.m. near Club Center and Banfield drives in a Natomas Park residential neighborhood.
Officers responded to reports of a traffic collision with the pedestrian, arrived at the scene and found a man who was dead, according to the Sacramento Police Department. The shuttle bus driver remained at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the pedestrian’s name and age after his family has been notified.
Devra Selenis, a RT spokeswoman, said a RT Smart Ride On-Demand Transit service shuttle that hit the pedestrian. This type of smaller shuttle bus is similar to other ride-share services, where customers can use a smartphone app to request a ride for pick up and drop off within the service boundaries.
Selenis said RT officials on Monday morning did not have all the details about the fatal collision, which remained under investigation. She said there were no other injuries reported.
