Pedestrian fatally struck by pickup truck in southern Durham

Durham police are investigating after a fatal wreck left a pedestrian dead Monday.

The crash occurred about 6:45 a.m. in the 4200 block of N.C. 55, according to a news release.

A man driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra southbound fatally struck a man in the roadway, the release said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead in the scene. He was not in a crosswalk, according to police.

Police are withholding the man’s name as they work to notify his family members. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, police said.
