Pedestrian killed in crash was hit by an unknown car, Macon law enforcement says

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed in south Macon Sunday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies received a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. regarding someone unresponsive off Hawkinsville Road, south of Feagin Road.

When deputies arrived, they found 25-year-old Hatima Ayana Wilkins dead on the scene. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones pronounced Wilkins dead and notified family members.

“It was determined Wilkins had been struck by an unknown vehicle,” deputies said in a news release.

The circumstances regarding the incident were under investigation Monday. Deputies urged anyone with related information to call the sheriff’s office and ask to speak with a fatality investigator at 478-751-7500.
