Pedestrian killed during hit-and-run crash in Macon, sheriff’s office investigates

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Macon, Ga. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024.

A pedestrian was killed during a hit-and-run crash in Macon Wednesday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call regarding “a person down” on Pio Nono Avenue near the Rose’s shopping center around 10:30 p.m., a news release from the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies found a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Daralynn Erlease Jones, who was “struck and killed by an unknown vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said.

Jones was expected to be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.
