SUV strikes, kills 15-year-old near Borden, Sask.

Human remains found in northern Manitoba near Leaf Rapids

A 15-year-old girl has died following a collision with an SUV on Highway 16 near the Borden Bridge, approximately 45 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.

The RCMP said she was walking on the travelled portion of the highway, trying to flag down a passing vehicle.

The SUV that struck her was driving at highway speeds, the RCMP said.

Members of the police, along with the Langham volunteer fire department and an ambulance crew, were dispatched to the scene on Friday night at approximately 9:55 p.m. CST.

The emergency crews performed CPR on the girl to try to revive her, but were unsuccessful. She died on scene.

The police said alcohol was not a factor for the driver of the SUV.

Early Saturday morning, the police said they were still investigating the incident.

The RCMP hasn't released other details on the identities of the driver or the victim.
