A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle's driver in south Ottawa late Tuesday night.

Ottawa police said it happened near on Albion Road south of Rideau Road just before midnight.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene, Ottawa paramedics told CBC.

Paramedics said another patient was assessed at the scene but wasn't taken to hospital.

Police didn't share the victim's name in a Wednesday morning news release and did not mention any arrests or suspects. They did say they were still looking for witnesses and footage.

Albion was closed for several hours overnight at the scene about 15 kilometres south of the city core. It reopened around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
