A pedestrian was struck and killed by train on MS Coast, police say. Here’s what we know

A man died Tuesday night after a train struck him in Ocean Springs, police said.

Police responded at 9:51 p.m. to the tracks near 1118 Bienville Blvd, Chief Ryan LeMaire said in a news release.

Officers found the man deceased, LeMaire said.

Witnesses told police the man was on the railroad tracks before the crash, according to authorities. The train made an emergency stop after striking the pedestrian, police said.

The railroad tracks re-opened at 11:07 p.m., police said.

Police have not released the man’s identity.

Ocean Springs Police and CSX are investigating and ask anyone with any information to call the Ocean Springs Police Department at 228-875-2211.
