Pedestrian, 21, dies after being struck by dump truck in Brampton

For the second straight morning, a young man is dead after being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

This morning a 21-year-old Brampton man died after he was hit by a vehicle that witnesses say was a dump truck. It happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Kennedy Road just north of Steeles Avenue.

Police say the victim was dragged beneath the vehicle and that the driver failed to remain at the scene.

Const. Rachel Gibbs told CBC News it's unclear whether or not the driver knew a pedestrian had been struck.

"It's too early to speculate on that," she said. "It was dark at the time."

Yesterday a 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Scarborough. A 28-year-old man has since been charged with impaired driving causing death.
