Penn State football closes in on top 10 in AP poll after win over Central Michigan

After beginning the season unranked, Penn State sits on the doorstep of the top 10 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll.

The Nittany Lions moved up three spots to No. 11 after their 33-14 victory over Central Michigan. Penn State is 4-0 after finishing the nonconference portion of the schedule and will face Northwestern at home on Saturday. The game is set for 3:30 p.m. and will air on ESPN.

The top five teams remained unchanged in the rankings, while Oklahoma took the biggest plunge. The Sooners fell 12 spots to No. 18 after losing to Kansas State.

Penn State received 876 voting points this week, 116 points more than No. 12 Utah and 44 points less than No. 10 North Carolina State.

Penn State is one of four Big Ten teams in the poll. The others are No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Michigan and No. 21 Minnesota. The full rankings can be found below:
