Now that the majority of us are working from home, you likely have a few more hours to fill each day. And while some people are turning to no equipment workouts, others are using Netflix to aid their self isolation, or even books.

But if you're struggling to lose yourself in a good book or feel like you've had enough binge-watching for now, how about turning you attention to gaming? You might have noticed a surge in social media users playing Animal Crossing of late. And no, you're not stuck in 2011.

The game, which is available on Nintendo Switch, gives users the opportunity to create a super-cute avatar, before going on quests to furnish their home, tend to their natural surroundings and befriend loads of adorable animals.

The new version of the game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, came out on 20 March - perfect timing for those who have been social distancing for a while - and is going down very well on Twitter.

One person wrote, "I'M OBSESSED WITH ANIMAL CROSSING, I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST HOUSE TODAY & [I] WANT RENT!!!" Another added, "Animal Crossing update: I’m obsessed."

A third said, "I love... Animal Crossing..." while another said, "I'm still as addicted to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as I was since the day it released."
