People saved from balconies during Sainte-Thérèse apartment fire

An apartment fire forced more than 30 people from their homes overnight in Sainte-Thérèse, just north of Laval. 

A 911 call was placed around 11 p.m. saying a woman and child were trapped in the burning building. 

About 40 firefighters arrived at the scene.

The woman and child were found safe. Three people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. 

Firefighters worked to save residents trapped on their balconies as the 12-unit building burned.

The fire was out by 2 a.m. Sunday morning. 

Residents were taken in by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is not known and is currently being investigated.
