Perrie Edwards says that she didn't actually want to audition for The X Factor back in 2011, because she was "painfully shy," but her mum Debbie forced her to go, leading to her becoming part of one of the biggest girl bands the industry has ever seen.

While speaking to contestants on Little Mix's new talent competition show, Little Mix: The Search, Perrie shared some information about her journey to stardom, saying that had her mum not pushed her to attend the audition she wouldn't have got to where she is today.

"I didn’t want to do it, but my mum forced me," she explained. "I’m really thankful now. I was painfully shy and didn’t want to do anything that would embarrass myself."

In an appearance on The One Show Jade Thirlwall also mentioned that the bandmates had had some disagreements on the show, down to their differing tastes in music and opinions about which contestants should go through.

"We definitely had disagreements. A couple of times maybe I went off in a huff... There are moments we couldn’t believe someone wouldn’t put someone through. It’s inevitable that we’re not always going to agree on certain people."

Little Mix: The Search is set to air on BBC One and iPlayer on 26th September, and harking back to the show that put the band together the show will see singers being put into groups which will be a variety of all-female, all-male and mixed bands. Contestants will be mentored by the Little Mix members and the winning group will join Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall on tour.

We're very glad your mum made you go to that audition, Perrie. Nice one, Debbie.
