A man was shot and killed in an Arlington apartment complex on Monday. No one has been arrested in the case, police said.

A 53-year-old man died after being hit by a car in Arlington on Monday, Jan. 6, police said.

At around 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of East Pioneer Parkway, just west of Texas 360, for a reported auto-pedestrian collision. When they arrived at the crash scene, they found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators determined the man was trying to cross the road, but didn’t use a dedicated crosswalk. He was hit by a 2016 Lexus ES 350 that was headed west on Pioneer Parkway, according to police.

The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators don’t believe he was intoxicated or speeding, officials said. He won’t face any criminal charges in connection with the accident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died after his next of kin is notified.

Arlington police would like to remind pedestrians to always use traffic lights or dedicated crosswalks when crossing a street. This is especially important at night when it is harder to see.
