Nearly a week after TMZ reported that the pair had split and Pete confirmed the news, E! reported. While on stage for a benefit show, Pete addressed the situation, saying, "Well, as you could tell, I don't want to be here. There's a lot going on. Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?"
He continued, making reference to the many matching tattoos he now shares with Ariana. "So, obviously you know I, we [Ariana and I] broke up or whatever but when me and her first got engaged we got tattoos," he said. "And it was like in a magazine like, 'Was Pete Davidson stupid?' And 93% of it said yes." He also admitted that he's had to cover up some of the ink, saying, "Um, I've been covering a bunch of tattoos, that's fun."
Pete's comments mark the first public confirmation of the breakup. Ariana had previously announced she was taking a break from social media, writing in an Instagram Story post that it was hard being on the Internet, She did not explicitly confirm the news, though, writing, "time to say bye bye to the internet for just a lil bit. it's hard not to bump news n stuff that i'm not tryna to see rn. it's very sad and we're all tryin very hard to keep goin. love u. and thank u for bein here always."
In the days following the reported breakup, Ariana had supposedly returned her $100,000 engagement ring to Pete. She was also reported to be keeping the couple's pet pig named Piggy Smallz.
Although Pete may have addressed the end of their relationship, it's important to remember the respect the privacy of both Ariana and Pete. Whether or not they address the news remains up to them.
