Peter Kay teases another 'big announcement' for his fans

Peter Kay has teased that he has a "big announcement" for his fans.

The Phoenix Nights legend has just made his comedy return, bursting back onto the scene in November to announce his first stand-up comedy tour in 12 years, including a monthly residency at London's O2 arena.

And he has now shared that there is more news to come.

Thanking his fans for their support after his stage comeback, Kay said on Twitter and Instagram that he would be spilling the beans on the Sara Cox Drivetime Show at 6pm on Thursday (8 December).

He wrote: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to the first shows in Manchester. It was incredible to be part of such a happy experience.

"Everybody deserves a bit of joy. Here's to a lot more in the shows to come!"

"PS big announcement Thursday on Sara Cox Drivetime Show just before 6pm," added the Car Share star.

Until recently, Kay had not been seen much since 2017 when he cancelled all of his work commitments – including a planned tour - due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.

Offering his “sincerest apologies” he said at the time: “This decision has not been taken lightly and I'm sure you'll understand my family must always come first.”

Fans have been thrilled to see the 49-year-old comedian back on stage in his new shows and demand for tickets has been high.

Tickets were released for sale last month and the rush caused site crashes.
