MIDDLESEX – Vaccination efforts continue at Mt. Brydges’ Caradoc Community Centre (400 shots/day) and in the City of London. Bookings opened for people aged 60-64 on Tuesday, 13 April 2021; Middlesex-London Health Unit is approaching 100,000 doses administered in our region, about 20% of us. Nine Middlesex County pharmacies will soon offer the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged 55+ including: Glencoe Pharmacy, McIntyre Pharmacy (Parkhill), Ilderton Medical Pharmacy, Komoka Pharmacy, Delaware Pharmacy, InCare Health Pharmacy (Arva), Muncey, Bossons Pharmacy (Strathroy), Walmart (Strathroy), Shoppers Drug Mart (Strathroy), and Loblaw Drugstore Pharmacy (Strathroy). These locations had not received vaccines as of 12 April; most were waiting for further information from the government. Contact these pharmacies directly for more information about appointments. Vaccine pre-registration has opened for employers of essential workers who cannot work from home including, but not limited to, essential retail, schools, childcare, agri-food, farms, and funeral homes. In the past seven days, Middlesex-London averaged around 120 positive cases of Covid-19 per day, the majority in people under 30. “Variants of concern” are predominant among those cases. The health unit has struggled to keep up with contact tracing, now only following up after a positive test result with high-risk cases associated with congregate living, schools, and essential in-person workplaces.
