In Photos: What It Looks Like To Reopen the Economy

Every state that implemented a stay-at-home order had begun to loosen restrictions by May 20 — but what exactly that looks like varies from state to state. Some states have opened up restaurants, offices and places of worship — typically with social distancing rules still in place — while others are still asking residents to stay at home as much as possible. As of May 22, only 11 states, along with Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., still had active statewide stay-at-home orders, according to NPR.

Because of the varying rules and restrictions in place among states — and even among cities within the same state — reopening the economy looks vastly different across the U.S.
